Double insulated lights- designed to operate without the need for an earth wire

One of the questions we get asked on a regular basis is “Do you have any lights that are Double Insulated?”

The majority of fittings these days will be Class I (Earthed), however there are still situations in which you will need a Class II (Double Insulated) fitting, where the wiring in the property will not have been updated in recent years. At EMA Lighting, we have been trying to make it easier to help identify these fittings both in-store and on our website.

In a lighting catalogue, the symbol to show that a fitting is Double Insulated will be the following:

Many people are under the misconception that Double Insulated fittings are basic, plastic and not very pretty. However, there are a number of very decorative and stylish fittings to suit every type of environment.
